SMI Steel

Client: SMI, part of the Commercial Metals Company and comprised of four steel mini-mills, is a leading national manufacturer of steel products to customers throughout North America.

Challenge: To find a cost-efficient solution that enabled SMI's four steel mini-mills to access data required to create critical documents that effectively support SMI's core operations, including sales order acknowledgements, shipping notices and invoices. In addition, SMI needed a cost-efficient solution to provide a solid architecture infrastructure and connectivity to trading partners.

Solution: Covast's EDI Accelerator, in combination with BizTalk Server, provides connectivity to SMI's trading partners and enables the exchange of EDI documents. In effect, the Covast EDI Accelerator has reduced legacy server maintenance costs, eliminated the need for expensive maintenance contracts and dramatically decreased the delivery time of connecting with customers.
